Upgrade to 100G Optical Interconnects in the Data Center

Data center traffic continues to grow, driven by increased compute-intensive applications for cloud computing and big data, emerging artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads, and higher demand for low-latency east-west connections between servers. This is driving a move to denser and higher speed connectivity both within the leaf and spine and between the leaf/top-of-rack switch to the server. While today most of the switch ports are at 100 Gbps or below, Dell’Oro Group forecasts that by 2025 more than 60% of the switch ports will be 100 Gbps or higher.
