Driving 5G innovation with Open RAN

Watch Webex On-Demand

Open radio access networks (ORAN) is a hot topic in mobile telecoms, enabling transformation and virtualization of the radio access network for 5G. Open RAN technology provides new network architecture for mobile networks. The goal for ORAN is for any hardware and software in the cellular network to interoperate both seamlessly and securely regardless of its originating vendor. As mobile networks evolve to 5G, technologies such as ORAN are expected to play a major role in their evolution, creating opportunities to launch new innovative and profitable services. Open, standardized interfaces bring significant opportunities to mobile network operators but also spur new challenges across the mobile ecosystem. Network operators have many questions about ORAN. Cisco believes that ORAN networks will bring value by enabling new services, unlocking a wide variety of use cases, and utilizing capabilities that are missing from current mobile networks. We ve worked in close collaboration with leading ORAN vendors to include ORAN technology as part of Cisco Private 5G. In this webinar, we'll discuss the challenges on the way to ORAN deployment and how to overcome them. We'll cover interoperability challenges with ORAN networks, the current state of standards, and various security concerns. We ll also discuss the innovation potential ORAN offers with openness and flexibility in radio access networks, as well as the advantages of partnering with radio agnostic network vendors to accelerate deployments.

In this Cisco Knowledge Network webinar, you’ll learn about:

  • How Open RAN technology provides new network architecture for mobile networks.
  • ORAN’s innovation value by enabling new services, a wide variety of use cases, and new capabilities missing from current mobile networks.
  • The advantages of partnering with radio-agnostic network vendors to accelerate deployments.
